The Sept May

Story

The unique design of the N.01 case used by The Sept Mai pays homage to the retrofuturistic architecture of the former TWA terminal located at JFK airport in New York.

Day 1

The Sept Mai

Named The Sept Mai, our first production is a nod to the origins of Neucarl, a memorable May 7, 2015.

N.01

Inspired by the past. Designed for the future.

The N.01 case is a retro-futuristic take on the classic wristwatch. Its unique design is dedicated to freedom and is inspired by the iconic TWA Flight Center built in the middle of the 20th century in New York.

The avant-garde ideas of Finnish-American architect Eero Saarinen give the N.01 case taut lines and a sleek profile – only 8 mm without the sapphire crystal.

Its fluid design draws its inspiration from the heart of the design principles that led to the creation of the TWA Flight Center: asymmetry of the main case, depth of the visual field, modernist lines and curves stretched to infinity.

In short

All in quality

Brilliant.

The N.01 case retains its highly polished finish for a long time thanks to the anti-scratch treatment applied. The Sept Mai will go through time without outrage.

Fluid.

The compact crown specially designed for our N.01 case offers ideal grip, and offers you maximum manual winding comfort.

The design of the bottom takes up in an inverted way the Y design of the 4 pillars supporting the structure of the TWA Flight Center.

Transparent.

Admire the Swiss Sellita SW215 mechanical movement. The back of the N.01 case is wide open so as not to hide any detail, and its sapphire crystal benefits from an anti-reflective treatment. You won't miss a thing from its 42-hour power reserve.

"Simplicity is always the sign of a high level of sophistication"

TWA Flight Center, New York JFK

A masterpiece of neo-futurist architectural audacity

The TWA Terminal was designed by Finnish-American architect Eero Saarinen and opened on May 28, 1962. As Eero Saarinen died in 1961, the project was completed by Kevin Roche and John Dinkeloo.

Non-Standards

Eero Saarinen is the architect of major projects, an artist. In addition to the TWA Flight Center, he designed the monumental Gateway Arch in St Louis and the sculptural Dulles Airport in Washington DC.

And there was light

The TWA Flight Center features an exceptional thin shell roof, wing-shaped and supported by four "Y" shaped pillars. The sections are joined by skylights. These gaps adding to the lightness of the structure gave us the idea of a case back separate from the main case. We call it Floating Case.

Art&Design

The large inclined glass surfaces inspire the profile of the central case and the wide opening of the dial of The Sept Mai.
Like those glass windows for the TWA Flight Center, our sapphire crystal gives you a comfortable view of the dial. The indexes on the dial take up the choreography punctuating the metal structure of the building.

For TWA, we tried to design a building in which the architecture itself would express the drama and excitement of travel. In a way, it is man's desire to conquer gravity.

–Eero Saarinen • 1910-1961
